It was down-right yummy and generous as was the staff.

He apologized to us.

Then added, " But we got good burgers."

Excellent, friendly service. And where else can you get that fresh, crispy salad with that awesome house dressing and that absolutely awesomely delicious naked sweet potato!!

Being hungry, I ordered a burger. Unbelievable juicy, tasty meat.

These guys grill up the best steak in Grant county & all of eastern Oregon for that matter! Great, friendly service. Nice atmosphere. Outdoor dining area is very nice as well.

The waiter said, everyone came to eat lunch there that day.

Hi quality home style food. Of course the steaks are excellent, but even a baked potato is a world class meal there. Nice small bar too.

It takes a lot for me to leave a bad review but after reading the great ratings this place got I have been left with no choice. I'm sorry but this was the worst place I've ever eaten, In fact I'm starting to think that all the people that wrote reviews have either grown up on tofu or are belligerently drunk. When I walked in it smelt of gas and old caesar salad dressing, the most sour odor. I tried to look past it as the wait staff was friendly and I don't judge a book by it's cover (or odor) but when our food arrived, my kids got a look at it, and began to cry I then realized I was in dinner hell. My son ordered fettuccine Alfredo and I kid you not, It arrived in a bowl with a 1/4 inch layer of melted butter pooled on top, the cream was separated and a curdled mess. My Mom had ordered some form of a baked potato that arrived swimming in a bowl of juice. She had been raving about this place for years so when I saw her instantly claim "She wasn't really hungry" I knew she was covering up the horror she had been faced with. I will say that they did have good french fries but I'm fairly sure they came from a bag because they closely resembled Red Robin steak fries. But, Hey maybe they made them, I don't know. After we left My Mom said that the experience we had was a complete let down and not of the norm and that something was off, but If you mess up a baked potato then I can't trust you. My point to this, There is literally no where to eat in John Day so if you're on a road trip, Eat in a different city. Sorry Snaffle bit, I hope you can do better. Fingers crossed!

I had heard of Snaffle fame throughout the locals, so I had high expectations. Been on the road all day, and man I wanted a high caliber steak.Came in. Sit down. The whole menu was sold out, with exception to burgers.
