It's clean and in a convenient location but has also seen better days. Staff are nice. Furniture is old and our room had an odd smell, not moldy our dusty, just odd. Rooms are big though and come with a fridge, a coffee maker, and a microwave. Don't expect the Ritz and you'll be okay.

Not a lot of options in John Day. Prices everywhere seemed high for the eclipse, this place seemed reasonable. People are very nice.
VERY friendly inn-keeper. A vintage motel, kept clean and neat. Linens were good, the bed was firm. The site is quiet and peaceful yet just a few steps to dining, etc. Gets the stars based on friendly staff, clean, and very reasonably priced.
Came here for the solar eclipse, an awesome place to stay! The location/hotel was perfect to where we could see all of the national parks and attractions within one day. This is a great place for a reasonable price.
